The First Thanksgiving

I learned a lot about the first Thanksgiving today from this website. I learned a lot especially about the trip to the colonies. I learned that on September 6th, 1620 the journey from England began. The trip was about two months long. Many of the people never went to the deck and stayed in the holding area. There were also many violent storms at sea.

I also learned a lot about their culture and the feast. The Indians and the pilgrims both had many things not in common. Their houses were very different because the pilgrims used wood and the Indians used bark and twigs. The Feast was mostly food they gathered themselves. They also had games. The children played childlike games and the adults had target shooting contests. It sounded like a very fun thanksgiving.

thanks giving

I learned a lot about the pilgrims. When they came to land, the hardly survived the winter. The Wampanoags helped them. They taught the pilgrims to hunt. They mostly shot deer and ate it. They also ate ducks and made a corn based oatmeal. The pilgrims didn't eat turkey. They did't even have mashed potatoes or cranberry sauce. They did eat seafood, cabbage, onions, corn, and squash, though.
They usually spent praying on thanksgiving rather then eating all day. The giving of thanks went on for about a week. The Wampanoags and the pilgrims sometimes ate together. When the Wampanoags came, they had to build their own house. The Wampanoags liked to eat deer meat. Both groups spent time with each other. They had contests and played each others games. They danced, sang, and played some sports.

The first Thanksgiving

The voyage from England to America was in 1620. It was a 3,000 mile ride aboard the Mayflower. The Mayflower was a 17th-century sailing vessel. When they arrived in America after their two month trip it was winter. Being winter, it was difficult to find food. Luckily, the Wampanog or, "eastern people" were there to help them out.

The English colonists or, "Pilgrims" celebrated thanksgiving as part of their religion. Thanksgiving was meant for prayer not feast. The prams and the Wampanogs celebrated the first Thanksgiving in the Autumn of 1621. They celebrated it because they were excited for the first successful harvest.

Indian and Settlers

The Indians live in tepees made in the shape of a cone. The settlers lived in a one room home. The settlers children played with dolls. Then Indians also played with dolls. They also played with marbles.
The settlers children had to sleep on the floor. The two parents had to sleep in the same bed which is only about one of the beds you sleep in. The Indians had to crawl into their houses. The indians wore alot less than the settlers did.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving for the Pilgrims were celbrated by fasting and praying instead of feasting. In the Austumn of 1621 was when the feast between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag's took place. After being at Plimoth for only a few months the Pilgrims had already built seven houses, a common meeting place, and three storehouses for supplies and food from their first harvest. They had to get their food by killing the animals they wished to eat. Their main meal was more than likley duck. The women roasted the ducks while the children wouldgrind corn into samp.
Massaoit had seven men to hunt deer because deer was the Wampanoag's favorite dish. The fist Thanksgiving didnt include turkey and cranberries and patatoes werent even invented yet but they had duck and swan and a lot of sea food and cabbage. The meals were more than a week long. They werent a hour or two long like the Thanksgiving feasts we eat now.

The First Thanksgiving

The First Thanksgiving was in 1621 during Autumn it was with the Pilgrims and Wampanoag. Ten months after they all arrived they had been building. So far at that time they had built 7 houses, 3 store houses, and 1 meeting house. This was the start of the First Thanksgiving.
In 1621 you had to shot your meal. Ducks were the main meal or course. In order to cook them they would have to roast the duck over the fire. They did not have turkey, cranberry sauce, or potatoes on the first Thanksgiving. They did have though, seafood, onions, corn, and squash. Thanksgiving actually went a whole week then. They could eat indoors or outdoors it made no difference. Between meals the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag would play games. they would play the pin game or even blind man's bluff. The Pin Game was a simple game. The rules were just this you had to throw a ring onto a pin. It is pretty self explanatory. They also English grown up games. Men would shot at targets. It wasn't really a game it was more a contest. They would see what man could shot the best. this was probably important because they had to hunt for all their food so they can't go around missing everything they see. They need to provide for their family. The Pilgrims and the Wapanoag also would sing and dance. These are the traditions of the first Thanksgiving. I enjoyed reading about these traditions and I hope you enjoyed learning to.

The First Thanksgiving

The Pilgrims struggled a lot before the first Thanksgiving. The voyage was long and many did not survive the winter. The native Indian tribe helped them and they survived. They called their first successful harvest Thanksgiving. The Pilgrims and Indians celebrated together for three days.
Even though their life styles are very different, the Indians helped them any way. It was only fitting that the Pilgrims invited and shared their harvest with them. The children from both communities played together. Pilgrim and Indian leaders ate at the High Table together. Even back then it was a festive event designed to be thankful.

What I learned about the first thanksgiving

I didn't learn much in what i looked at because we just watched a very detailed movie before. However, I did learn that before moving there, they first did visits to see if life there would be better than England. In my opinion it is because of the religious beliefs they were forced to believe in must have been unbearable. Some colonists said life was bad in both areas.

With the specific family I was listening to. They said life in the Colonies would be better for their children. Also, the father made the decision to go to the colonies. The wife trusted her husband that he made the right decision. They had plenty of food for Thanksgiving, the Indians also gave them huge deer meat to eat.

The may flower

The pilgrims in there voyage were stuck under the ship. There were many people who were on board for a crew as well. They in there journey were hit by a storm. It almost took them back and ended the journey they would take. They were also way off course now.
In the the voyage though there ship got a hole and the mast fell down the pilgrims had tools to fix it though. They sealed the hole and made it back to there regular course. They fixed it by using a mallet and a couck. Them it was not long until they got back on track. They arrived in Cape cod and in another month made it back to plimouth. They then settled there.

First Thanksgiving

I learned a lot in the videos I watched. I learned the winters were harsh. They hardly had enough warmth to survive the winter. The reason the winters were so harsh is they didn't have the knowledge to fight the new diseases that spread so quickly is they didn't have the right medicine to vaccinate.
I also learned they had a plentiful source of ducks in the area the settled. Duck was the main course of their Thanksgiving. That did not mean that they didn't have turkey it was wild turckey although. The normal cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes were not around at this time. They had built 7 houses. They also had built a store house. They still had a hard time getting food.

Thanksgiving

Today, I learned all about the Wampanog and the Pilgrims. One thing that I learned about the Pilgrims is that they dressed very differant then the Wompanog, the Pilgrims lived in houses that had roofs and they had differant shapes to them. The Pilgrims lived in one room houses the houses were ussualy the size of small apartment, except back then the houses were not as nice as they are now, they didn't get more then one room and they did not have as many lisure things that we so the children had toys that were not extreavagant the were simple and able to do the basic things that were needed, and that was to be able to occupy the child.
Today, i also learned about the wompanog. The Wompanog also lived in simple homes, but the homes that the Wompanog lived in were even more simple then the ones that the Pilgrims lived in. The Wonpanog lived in hut types of houses, these houses consist of clay and staw in the warmer months of the year. However, in the winter the Wonpanog make a differant hut type of house and it still looks the same, but this one is made with clay, straw, and rope. The inside of the huts are the same as the pilgrims in the way of one room and simple, but the Pilgrims didn't have to crawl into there huts like the Wompanog did. Well, over all that is not all that I learned, but my fingers hurt so peace out!♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
September 6,1620 then Mayflower leaves NewEngland to North America. Around 30 people control the sails. Then at mid-sea a big storm comes and puts many leakes in it. a person falls off but grabs a rope and is saved. Then at urge of turning around they fit it.
They fix it by useing caulk and pins to seal the holes. But the winds have blown it way off course. After it stops at New Foundland to get water and food. Then it is all over they end up at cap cod on November 11. After 65 days at sea it is over. Then by december they will reach there new home Plimouth. It is now reaching the colder months.

(plimounth is not spelled wrong that is how they spelled it back then.)

The Mayflower Voyage

I learned about the Pilgirms coming to the new world. It wasn't actually a smooth ride. During the two months that they were on an Augast storm hit and blew them off course. Also the main beam fell and a person went overboard. Luckily he or she caught a rope and was saved from the furious waves. After the storm the fixed the main beam with an iron hammer that they took from Holland. They also fixed up some of the sracthes and leaks that the storm had brought upon them.
For the Pilgrims it was a horrible ride. They all stayed on the lowest part of the ship. It was really tight and they didn't get a lot of fresh air. On the other hand the dock workers got to be outside to breath fresh air but had to work also. It was commanded although by one of the best sailors... Christopher Jones. They finally reached the new world in November 11. All of the Pilgrims will reach their settlement... Plimoth.

P.S. Just so you know back then the word Plymoth was spelled Plimoth.

Voyage Of the Mayflower.

I learned a lot from the website. The life while traveling on the Mayflower was hard. The crew below deck barely got to breathe fresh air. The living space in the boat was not big at all. Something I did not know is that during the journey, the ship actually got many cracks in it. It needed repair to make sure the leaks did did get to big. The crew would fill the cracks with caulk and mallets that they brought along.
While on the ocean, about half-way through their journey, a violent storm started. During the storm, a passenger was thrown overboard. Also, the ship was blown way off course so they were now North of Virginia. They stopped in Newfoundland to get fresh supplies for the rest of the journey. Finally, on November 11, 1620, they crew and all the passengers arrived in Plymouth. They whole trip took 65 days to reach their destination. Now the Pilgrims could begin their new life.

About The May Flower

The life of the Pilgrims was not easy their journey was full of crampt living spaces and hash weather. The Crew of the May Flower was made up of 30 men who had to work up on the deck all day and night. The Pilgrims on the other hand had to stay below deck all day and night. During the trip the weather got hourable half way through the trip and the May Flowere was on the verge of turning back.
After that storm instade of turn in back the Pilgrims they fixed up the ship and kept going tile the would get there. Before they got to Plimoth The Pilgrims landed in Cap Cod. After they got there they desided to go to Plimoth insted. When they got ther eit was almost winter so theyhad to build their houses and live on the boat during the colder months.

Plymouth 1620-1621

The pilgrims came to the new world on a ship called the Mayflower. The pilgrims were beneath deck in a small cramped space. The area below the deck was also dark. Men were sent back and forth from the Mayflower to build houses on the new land. Women would be afraid about their husbands because many of them died with this task. About half of the pilgrims died because they were on the Mayflower through winter.
The first thanksgiving was meant to celebrate a whole year they survived and to celebrate their harvests. An actual thanksgiving was a day to fast because of pilgrim religion. The thanksgiving they had was the harvest festival. The Indians and the pilgrims celebrated. The Indians brought deer and the pilgrims supplied the rest.

Mayflower and The Feast

For the children didn't go to school. But instead they played a lot if they were little. If they were older they were older they didn't play a lot. But instead they worked a lot. While the kids play the parents work so that the family can eat. The father is to get food. the mother is to cook the food. They didn't speak English.
The first thanksgiving was a special day. They grew corn to eat corn to eat. The native brought deer to them. They were very grateful to have deer at there meal. When the mayflower landed they were hoping for a new life. They were happy to be able to start a new life. The father in the family made all the decisions.

Today's Blogging Assignment

Nonowrimo

It is a good thing to enourage kids to write novels. The goal they want is that kids would try to write a 175 page novel. They want the novel to have 50,000 words in it. This would be a great accomplishment for kids to do in there lives.
If i were to write I would write a sports book. It would be about the chalenges that pros face to become a great athelete. It would probobly be based on Micheal Jordan. I would like to join this to help get kids involved in writing. It helps kids to learn how to write good aswell. This is also a good idea for increasing your vocab.
I think the reason people would want to write is to open up about things. If you can't open up some times it could be hard. Also you could do it on your free time. Also many people write about things that had happen to them. It could be bad or good again you can open up.

I would write about something fantsy. I would write about it because you can make up anything. You could make it funny or sad. Also you could wright about tough times you have in life. I would make my novel funny.

NaNoWriMo (It's a tongue twister!!)

NaNoWriMo is about inspiring young authors. It helps those to get an opportunity in the writing career. I would like to get involved because I think all need to be able to write. It is the best opportunity to get recognized in the writing world.

What I would write about in my novel is the journey of a young man. It will take place in 2177 in a post-apocalyptic, warring world. The story will tell how to survive. The fight one must put up to survive an every day tasks turned challenging.

National Novel Writing Month :D

NaNoWriMo is something where people all around the world write a novel off the top of their heads. Its cool because a lot of people are doing it. Its fun for kids and adults everywhere who love to write (like me :) Its a good way to practice writing and maybe someday you will be a famous author.
I love to write, I'm even in the middle of my own novel! I'm writing a ghost book that is based New Orleans. I also want to write an adventure trilogy. The trilogy is biased on Scottish mythology. I love writing and hope to continue it as an adult.

NaNoWriMo

Things I learned are that it is a commitee to help kids write novels and publish them. It encourages kids to write a novel that is at least 175 pages long. You do not have to be writing good books, you can just write whatever you want and it will not matter. Last year there was over 165,000 participants in writing these long but kind of pointless novels.
If I were to write a novel, there would be a lot of things thta I would want to write about. I would mostly want to write about sports of some kind. Sports are my favorite thing. The sport I would write about would be football because it is the best and I know the most about it. I would want to get involved in the NaNoWriMo program because I think it would be fun to write even though it would not even have to be a good story. Also, it would be fun to be doing the same task as about 165,000 other people in the world. It would be a fun thing to get involved in. The only bad thing about it is it might be hard to come up with 50,000 words about a subject

My 2 paragraph novel woop woop what a long novel!!!

Well this program basically runs a competition kind of thing. It starts on November 1st, that's when you start writing your novel. Then it ends November 30th. They say, "It is a seat-of-your-pants approach." They say that you can write about whatever you want to write about. It will help kids to get off the computer, cell phones, television and get their minds working. I think this is a wonderful thing to do. It encourages creativity and dedication. This program says, "That its about quantity not quality." This "novel" has to be 50,000 words long. Along with this and the due date it has no other guidelines. To my understanding from reading the website you can write about, "crap." (that was their direct quote) This sounds fun you can just let your imagination flow and just write whatever pops into your head.
If I could write a novel I would write about the olden days. I love reading stories like that and learning what it was like back then. That is why I love the books The Little House on the Prairie. I think that a lot of the things should stay the same. If you look at our community today it is all about violence and hatred and just all around bad things. I mean when you read the top story of the paper you don't want to read about someone getting shot or beaten. You want to read about could things and the good in others. You want to read about all the Christian things that are going on. Back then everyone knew everyone by name and were so nice to people. I'm not saying that everything should be the same but we need to learn from our ancestors. That is what I would write my novel on, "The olden days."

Savannahs novel blog.

NaNoWriMo is a approch to get people writting novels. It starts November 1 and ends November 30 at Midnight so hury up and enter your novel. They want to get novles of 50,000 word-novels made from scratch. This is called kamikaze. It dosent matter what you write about as long as you are writting. But make sure you dont make any mistakes because it might be hard to tell if you are making any with all the crap your writting down.
Go to http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/whatisnano to find out more and enter your novel.
There are soo many things to write about the options are endless. You coul write about things that have happened to you that made a big diffrence in you life. You could write about something that want to happen like a perfect family. Maybe even a mystery story where you have to figure things out like a murder. Another thing could also be fiction like a fairytail about a cyclops or big foot.

NaNoWriMo

What I learned about NaNoWriMo was it is to inspire kids to write a novel or a story. The kids will take the steps that and author uses to write a novel. The goal of the hole thing is to write a 175 page novel by midnight, November 30.They need as much people as they can get.

If I were to right a novel it would probably be about life on the planet. In the novel you would explore all of the rainforest, both of the poles, the deserts, the woodland forests, etc... There would be animals and insects and teaching you what they do in order to survive everyday. It would teach kids to save they planet by recycling and planting new trees and don't waste as much stuff.
I learned that nanowrimo is a veru fun, at-the-edge-of-you-seat website that focues on writing novels. Their goal is to write a novel of 175 pages containing 50,000 words. Their writing style is called kamikaze. This style is just writing stuff down whenever you think of it. It is very intense writing which allows you to make mistakes.

I would write about somthing very general. For example, a good thing to write about would be life. There is many stages in life and many things that happen to make life possible. Life is also very important so that's another reason to write about it. If you need to write 50,000 words and 175 pages you need to write about life or somthing like it to even come close to reaching your goal.

NaNoWriMo

November is National Novel Writing Month. For today's post you need to head over to http://www.nanowrimo.org/ and check out information on what it is and how it works.

For today's post you need to write two paragraphs. The first paragraph is about what you learned about NaNoWriMo and why you would want to get involved. The second paragraph should talk about what you would write about if you were to write a novel. Each paragraph should be at least four sentences long. Spelling, punctuation and proper grammar is important!

This blog was great, it showed you what you put into your body everytime you eat a hotdog, chicken nugget. It also showed you that you are putting a chemical into your body that is used to make SillyPuddy, I don't know about you, but that made me want to puke! It was soooo gross I looked like strawberry icecream before it was frozen and still in the factory. This blog makes you wonder what all of your other foods look like while they are still in the factory and before they are sent out to you in your local food store. So eat healthy, stay healthy, and be active:)..
When I read this site it was awesome. It told you interesting facts about chicken nuggets. For example, one ingredient used to make chicken nuggets is used in silly putty. It also told what chicken nuggets along with other fast food is made of.

The Packers and Bears game

I was ashmed that the packers lost to the bears. It was the most penalties the Packers have ever had in NFL history. They had 18 penallties in the game verses the bears. The end score was 20 to 17 bears won. I think the end of the game pass interference call was not a good one. The reason was that he pulled the bears player to the ground. I think also it should of been a Bears penaly. If that was the case the Packers would have an interception and thats end of the story

Foot-Ball is Fun

I think football is fun because you can hit people and it feels great. I scored my first tochdown two years ago when I first started playing. The play was a five and out pass to me. I cought and every one cheered they tryed to through it to me agian for the extra point but the team had me double garded. This year I'm wide reciever agian I have scored three touchdowns sofare and I will keep scoreing more as long as I am at wide out. Last year I was moved to corner back but now I am back at wide. Last year I also played safety and I had in inerseption and it feels amazing. This is why I feel football is one of the best and most fun to play.

football

I like to play football on my free time. I like to play because you can hit people as hard as you want. Also i like to play it beacuse it uses lot of my energy. I also like to be outside in the nice weather. It also gives you time to talk to your friends. Also it gives you your excercize. also it gives you freash air. It also is a fun sport to play.

Sports I Like

Some of my favorite sports are soccer, b-ball, dirtbiking, and golf. I like soccer because I'm on a state division team. This means that we play the top teams in Wisconsin. Basketball is a fun and exciting sport beause it feels good when you score a basket. Dirtbiking always gives you an adrenalin rush because if you fall you could seriously get hurt. You have to try real hard to not fall. Golf is a very fustrating sport. It can be fun yet hard at the same time.

Farm Aid 2010

This Saturday there will be a very special event in Milwaukee. Miller Park will be the site of the 25th anniversary of Farm Aid. This is a fundraiser for Farmers around the country. There will be special musical preformances by several bands. These bands include The Dave Matthews band, Kenny Chesney, Norah Jones, Jason Mraz, the BoDeans and many more. This all day event will feature homegrown concessions from the farmers at Farm Aid. This is a very special event and this is the ftrst time it has ever taken place at a ballpark.

Friends and Family

If I had a blog I would want to talk about my friends and my family. They are the closest things to me. My friends I can everything to and we can do a lot of things together. My family and I share a lot of memeries. We go to a lot of places and see a lot of things. We get together and make great memories. I love to hand with my friends and talk about whatever comes to our minds. I love to be with my family because they are so fun and we so close. Family and friends are great things to have.

My Friends

If I had to do a blog every day I would do it about my friends. Every day pretty much all day we are laughuing most of the time ill admitt it about silly things. But I love all my friends and we have soo much fun together. I would always have so much to say. I would definately do a blog about my friends.

Savannah Loves Jordan!!

Jordan is my best friends and I love him very much. He is amazing and soo nice. He wouldnt hurt a fly. He is very funny and always makes me crack up. No one should EVER be mean to Jordan, if they are they will fear the wrath of Lauren and Savannah. He is smart, kind, and awesomee! So there you have it. Never be mean to Jordan. Be his friend. :)
By his best friend,
Savannah Knight. :)

B.M.X

I like B.M.Xing because of the feeling you get when you learn a new trick. The rush is so exciting when you jump a stair set or drop-in on the half pipe. The most exciting feeling is when you are in the air. You feel like your flying. Another thing about B.M.Xing is the rush of being in the air you feel invincable. If you never B.M.Xed before you need to try it at least once even if you don't think you can do it you can.

Apple iPads+ All Year Blog+ Myself

Hello this is JR and this is my first blog!!! Today my first blog is going to be about iPads. I am getting one and just wanted to talk about some of the cool features iPads can get. First there are 3 sizes atm (16gb, 32gb, + 64gb). Ipads can get a lot of cool apps on them. First of all you could put the Kindle App on it. It allows you to buy books online and read them on your iPad forever. It is very handy to have on the road when you are board and don't want to bring tons of books. Oh I almost forgot you can get 3G network on iPads so you get internet anywhere!!!
I learned now that I had to blog about something I would blog about everyday but I would rather blog about animals, environmental stuff, and video games.
Ok, I told you about the Ipad but now I should tell you about myself. I live in a family of four. Dad- Ronald, Mom- Rachelle, + Sister- Elizabeth. I am taller than my sister. (she is short) I have brown hair and brown eyes. I wear glasses. I am very smart and I am in advanced math. + - x =. Yea all that good stuff. I am in 8th grade atm. It is the beginning of the school year still. We just had mid quarters of the first quarter. I did awesome. Have fun!!!

A-dawg's outfit!

Today our 8th grade teacher, A-dawg, wore the cutest outfit. She Was wearing a super cute light and dark blue striped shirt. She claims to have worn the shirt before, but none of my classmates think she has. She wore a really cute necklace that is my personal favorite part of her outfit. It had a star that dangled from the top in the middle of her neck. Well, that's all I have to say about today's outfit... I can't wait to see what she wears tomorrow!

Me!!

Hi lo!!! this is my first blog. I've heard of blogs and I've read blogs but I've never actually blogged.i usually only play games on the computer. let me tell you about my self. My name is Kellyn and i love dance and dogs. I have 2 dogs, Haver and Alvy. my favorite subjects are science and literature. My bffs are Lauren, Sam, JR, Raven, and Ericka. I've lived in Racine for most of my life (except when i lived in Denver when i was a baby). I have a mom, a dad, a step-dad and a baby sister. her name is Auttie. i love drawing and writing. My favorite show is Avatar: the last air bender.<(^-^)> Well thats all for now!!! Bye!

Packer Vs. Bears Game

The Packers lost to the Bears yesterday at Soldier Field. The final Score was 20-17. At one time in the game, Packers lineman Mark Tauscher, had three false start penalties called against him. The three penalties were right in a row. In the Packers final drive at the end of the game, James Jones was running with the ball after his catch and he fumbled. The Bears recovered the ball and started working their offense down the field. By the time they were in field goal range, the time had almost ran out of the game. The Bears offense wasted time so the Packers would have no time to score after they did. Robbie Gould, the Bears kicker, gave his team the lead after he made a 49-yard field goal. After the score, there was four seconds left in the game. The Packers kick returner, Tramon Williams, recieved the kick and began running. The play shortly ended after a couple lateralls.
After the long game including 18 Packer penalties that beat a franchise record and a punt return for a touchdown by Devin Hester of the Bears, Chicago got the win over the Packers. The Packers should have won the game.

ATV,S, Dirt Bikes. Basketball

Some of my favorite things to do are going atving and dirtbiking. I like to feel the wind brush through my nicely combed hair. Also I like the intensity and the rush of going fast. It sets me free from my mind. It is fun racing to. If you are in first and ahead of the other person you will not get as much dirt in your face. When you are just putting along you can look at the outdoors. Get some fresh air . Basketball is another thing I enjoy to do. Just going outside and playing with your friends or even yourself is a blast. If you practice a lot in Basketball it will eventually pay you off.

What I want to write about

I would want to share my interests with people about what i do and what i like/dislike. Stuff like sports and computers and chess. I know some of you are like, CHESS?! chess is stupid! it's actually not. It is a mind game yes, but that's what i like. Especially in the summer, because im usually just sitting in my house doing nothing so chess is a good way to wake me up and keep my brain smart. I like computers because There is so much to do on computers. Like for example what I'm doing right now. I'm writing a blog for thousands of people to post and comment and for me to link to other people's blogs. Finally i like sports for the competition, i like the heat of the battle and I like to be right in the middle of the mess.

PETA

We should support PETA because it is a very important to the pets and wild animals of the whole world. They work to keep all pets safe and abuse free. Also....
PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is the largest animal rights organization in the world. They have more than 2 million members and supporters. They focus their attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer for long periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry.
PETA also works on many of other issues. Those issues include the cruel killing of beavers, birds, other pests, and the abuse of backyard dogs and other pets. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, special events, protest campaigns, etc.
Again, PETA is very important for the treatment of animals around the world.

Recycling

I support recycling. It is very important to saving the world. Recycling is a simple task that makes a big difference. By recycling paper, you can save a tree. For every 2,000 pounds of recycled paper, 17 trees are saved. By recycling steel(aluminum), you can save energy. For every pound of recycled steel, a 60-watt light bulb can run for more than a day. You can also recycle plastic and glass. Plastic garbage thrown into the ocean kills about 1,000 sea creatures a day. It takes over 4,000 years for glass to decompose in a landfill. Recycling one glass bottle can run a 100-watt light bulb for 4 hours. I have now made it clear that recycling is a very important task. There's a lot to recycle out there, so we need to do as much as possibe to save the planet. You can visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recycling to find out more information about recycling.

The Red Cross

I support The Red Cross. This organization has helped many people in the past and in the present and will continue to help thoughts in need. In the past the put out their helping hand in world war II. Now they help people in Haiti and other places. They prepare people for disasters, and heal the injured. http://www.redcross.org/

Special Olympics

I support the special Olympics. The special Olympics give kids with special needs an opportunity to participate in the Olympic games. The Olympic games in Wisconsin provides over 10,000 athletes with different disabilities with the chance to be in the special Olympics. This organization gives training and competition for the athletes in over 18 different sports every year. That is only in Wisconsin, in the world Special Olympics there is more than three million athjletes that join in it. These people are from all over the country and even other countries. This orginization doesnt just let them participate in the Olmpics but it trains them so that they can laern or get better at a activity they would like to be in. You can find more information at http://www.specialolympics.org/

Koos For Kids

I support a cause called Koos for Kids. This organization supports and helps kids in Southeast Wisconsin who are terminally ill. The man who started this is named Marcus Hanel. He is a Racine native and he is deffinately one of my heros. He puts other people in front of himself and loves helping kids. I am a volunteer for this organization. Knowing that I help people who are terminally ill makes me feel a lot better when I know I am fully able to do things they can't. You can go to the charity events and make donations. Please help a terminally child. Also, please check out their website. Check out the pictures and see their featured child. http://koosforkids.com/Koos_for_Kids/Welcome.html

Compassion International

I support Compassion International. Compassion is a Christian children's organization that helps children in poor countries. It provides the kids with food, education, heath care, love, friends, and the knowledge of Jesus. My family is involved in Compassion by sponsoring a girl named Michelle from the Dominican Republic. We write letters to Michelle and send money to her and her family. It shows me how different life is in other countries from the U.S. The organization is very financially responsible; most of the money given goes directly to help the children and not for adminitrative needs. Heres a link to the website --> http://www.compassion.com/

Bodoblankets

I support Bodoblankets. It seems like a very interesting organization. You probably haven't heard of bodoblankets before. I didn't either until today. Bodoblankets is a non-profit organization, not many company's are like this. For every blanket someone buys from this organization, they donate one to a child in need. Bodoblankets is also eco-friendly. The blankets are made of organic and recycled yarn. They also believe in creating and maintaining jobs in the USA. Visit their site at: http://bodoblankets.com.

NBA Cares

I am supporting the NBA Cares association. Then NBa has been around for decades now. The cities of these teams and all the fans have been supporting and givinvg so much to the NBA. They finally thought it's about time they started to give back to the community. They do multiple different types of community work.
They do all different things for the communities of the world. They do everything from telling people to stay in school, to helping little kids read, to picking up trash, to rebuilding houses, to evan helping kids to improve there baqsketball skills.
I think what they are doing is great.
You can find information at:http://www.nba.com/nba_cares/keyissues.html

Cop 'n Kids

I would suport Cops 'n Kids. This is a local organization that improves reading skills of at risk children. The reading center provides free books and tutoring to children to families that do not have many educational reading materials at home. They guide them in ready skills, developement, and how to apply those skills that they learned. The children that participate are able to get to interact with the police officers. They accept of money or new and used books. More can be found at http://www.cops-n-kids.com.

Bill Gates foundation

i support bill Gates. because he was many charity organization. and not to forget he made Microsoft. this was a great idea. he is a very smart man, he helped revolutionize the world that we live in today.
http://www.gatesfoundation.org/Pages/home.aspx
he has many charity organizations, but the most famous one is the one that collects money for cancer. this is very important because millions of people die from cancer every year. including most of my family.

Hoops For Heart

I am doing my blog about Hoops For Heart, it is an organization like Jump Rope For Heart, they are both national groups that save and raise money for disease4s and strokes. But Jump Rope For Heart raises money for special children that are born with a heart condition.
I first learned about this in fourth grade, when my gym teacher asked who was going to participate in the raising of money, in hoops for heart. Of course there was awards, money, games, prize, and such that could be won depending on the amount of money you raised. Not many people could shoot let alone make a basket, but still a lot of money was raised, and from my research I've seen that now other schools are doing this to.http://www.lebanonct.org/district/lms/hoops_4_hearts.htm

SOS Children's Villages

The SOS Children's Villages is the largest orphan and abandoned children's charity in the world. The organization is a non profitable organization which means that the organization, by law, cannot hold or distribute profits like a "for-profit" organization can. Any profits that the organizatioin would make must be used to pay salaries, other non-preofit organizations, or donated to charities like the SOS organization.
The organization has been in operation since 1969 led by CEO Heather Paul and it's headquartered in Washington, D.C. The oranization offers free E-cards that anyone may use as a way of introducing the work of SOS, or as a way of sending a birthday card, thank you card, etc. The SOS oranization has many "villages" set up all around the world to help children. They help children when they need it the most, for example, they reopened a school in Haiti after it got destroyed by the earthquake.
I support the SOS Children's Villages organization completely because I think it is very good to donate and help children who are in need or who have been abandoned by their parents or gaurdians. Whenever you have extra money or anything, it is always good to try and help the less fortunate. I think this organization is very good for the world because by other people learning what this organization is doing for children, it could encourage others to help out too.

lance armstrong support

I support lance armstrong because hes a big inspiration to all who have cancer. He showed that you can still do alot if you have the will to. He had cancer and still rode in that bike race. He had cancer and later lost his leg. In his early years he trained in Texas and later trained for the US olympic team.
He was born in 1971 in Plano, Texas. He won the tour de france seven times while having cancer. In 1996 he was diagnosed with cancer. His work orginization , livestrong, is still around today helping and support cancer research. My aunt died of cancer and i think what he is doing is a good thing and seems like a good man. Lance is still alive today and still continues to research http://www.livestrong.org/site/c.khLXK1PxHmF/b.2660611/k.BCED/Home.html

Save the whales!

I support the orgination of Save the Whales is an organization that protects the whales that live in the ocean and keep them from going extinct. The link is http://http://www.savethewhales.org/index.html on the website it tells you about all sorts of whales and some information about them.Did you know that the Southern Right whale is one of the most indangered whale. The purpose of this organization is to teach people about whales and help keep them alive and stop the hunting of them. Save the Whales was founded in 1977 by Maris Sidenstecker he wanted to teach people about marine mammals and the ocean environment. Save the Whales believes the future of the planet, and our actions can promote change and save the whales. I think that everyone should help save them because soon they will be gone and the only whales will be alive if the are in captivity. We can help save the whales by not putting balloons in the air, only buy Albacore tuna, the only dolphin safe tuna, prevent urban run off or keep your car maintained, cut up six pack before you through them away. Many more SAVE THE WHALES!!!!!

Gregg Chapel CME Church

I support my church. I will support any church in the future that I belong to. It's important to support anything that you strongly believe in. My church gives money to charity and goes out and feeds the homeless. We give poor children, Christmas presents and on Thanksgiving we provide them with a healthy dinner. We do many other activities. My friends and sometimes family say that I'm at church or doing something for church too much! With my mom being Steward President, praise team, Praise Dance Coordinator, choir member, dad being Trustee President, Zhane being a Praise Dancer, praise team, Choir member, kitchen committee, Myself being a Youth Sunday School Teacher, choir member, Usher, partial choir director, praise team. As you can see we are always doing something.

My church is CME(Christian Methodist Episcopal), one of the varieties of Methodism. Check out this link to learn more. How to find my church: Third Episcopal District(Bishop Paul Steward), Milwaukee District(Elder Willie Dockery Jr), Gregg Chapel CME Church(Pastor David Green): www.c-m-e.org/

PETA and the Humane Society

I support PETA, or people for the ethical treatment of animals. I also support the Humane Society. Both of these groups stick up for "Those who can't speak up for themselves"(Humane Society quote). I hate it when I hear stories about animals being abused, neglected, and abandoned. Puppy mills are horrible places. We need to stop and think about what it would be like if we were in the animals' place. Would we like to be treated that way? No! So stop animal cruelty! Check out their websites to find out how you can help at http://www.peta.org and http://www.humanesociety.org.

Humane Society

I support the Humane Society. It takes in stray cats and dogs and puts them up for adoption. I'm an animal lover, and I think the Humane Society does good things. The animals are well-cared for, and I don't believe they put the animals down. If I were to get another dog, the first place I would look would be the Humane Society, without a doubt. http://www.humanesociety.org/

TOMS Shoes

I support TOMS Shoes. It is a self-proclaimed for-profit organization. When you purchase a pair of shoes, another pair is donated to a child in need. Founder Blake Mycoskie, came up with the idea in 2006 after a trip to Argentina, where most children had no shoes. You may think no shoes? So what? But there's lots of reasons why these children need shoes. One reason is soil-transmitted diseases. You can get these diseases by walking on infected soil with bare feet. Another bad factor of no shoes, are cuts and sores. Walking over sticks and stones can cause these. This can lead to infections which aren't good at all. One final reason for the need of these shoes is education. Most schools require shoes as a part of their uniforms, and when children don't have shoes, they can't get the education they need and deserve. No education can make for a not very bright future.
TOMS Shoes, which stands for Tomorrow's Shoes, has given over 600,000 shoes since May 2006. That's a a lot of shoes, considering people criticized Mycoskie when he first created the company. They called the idea stupid and ridiculous and said it would never work. But he has proved all of those people wrong and beaten his own odds. Now I bet you're all wondering, what are the shoes exactly? The exterior is made of canvas with a canvas exterior and a soft leather insole. They have a rubber outsole. Literally, the most comfortable shoes ever, just read up on the comments. I also happen to have a pair. :) They are a little different looking, but you will get used to them. There's a pair out there for everyone! Check out TOMS Shoes to learn more about this wonderful life-changing organization!

I support the ASPCA

I support the ASPCA because they help to get out animals away from their owners that abuse them. They also stop thousands of animals each year from cruel people and from the streets. The take in the animals and take care of them until they are healthy enough to be adopted. I support them because i don't think that animals should be treated like that or abused just because they can't talk for themselves. They should be treated like you wanted to be treated they are living creatures like we are. They should not be abused. If you can't take care of an animal or don't want to take care of the animal don't get one at all. Let them live with some one that will love them and will take care of them. The ASPCA helps rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws, and share resources with shelters nation wide. You should also support them and donate money to help save some animals if you love them like i do. No living creature needs to be treated like some people do. They should be treated the same. http://www.aspca.org/ Check out this site and read more on it. Save the lives of animals.

Twitter

Twitter, is a mix of Gmail and Myspace. It let's people talk and share their ideas with other people. You can also commenting on other peoples opinions and beliefs,it makes you a more well rounded person. It's also similar to a newspaper, you can see what's going on in the world. You can also search and find, your friends and family, pictures, and videos.
You can use Twitter to see what's going on with friends and family. Let's say, for example, you need help on a homework assignment, you can ask a friend on how to do it. If you are sick and don't feel well, you can see the news on Twitter. You could post ideas, and check up on your account. You can also "tweet" on work, about your life, friends, books, music, or what ever your doing.
If used in a class room the most logical way to use it would probably be like a teacher contacting a parent, or legal guardian. Students that are on travel, or on vactaion can send messages to teachers, and students; if they need help with any homework or such. Also a teacher can assig homework to students through Twitter. The students, (or teachers) can "follow" each other talking about schhol, sports, or what ever. In conclusion Twitter is useful for just about everyone.

Ed and Matt:Blogs;

What are Blogs? Thats a great quetstion. Blogging is when you make a post for people to read, and also for people to possibly comment. I think blogging is a usefull thing to do. You can just write about anyhing you want, and people can read it. This also inspires other people to start blogging. Bloggin can have any type of topic. One blog you can be talking about Kentucky being the best college basketball team, because of John Wall, or other times you could be talking bout astronauts.
When you do this, youn can get information out a lot faster to people. People from any corner of the world can view your post, and you can also view anyone's post from anywhere. Going to different types of websites you can view people's blogs. Not all websites have sections for blogging. So, make sure to go to a website that has blogging if you want to view blogs. Some of these websites are:blogger , wordpress, myspace, and many other websites. By looking at these post from other people we can learn about different things, and how other peolpe view things.
You can even use blogging for class websites such as ours. Teachers can make blogg assignments for grades. If you need help on homework, or if you need information you can just post a blogg, and people can comment on it. On our website we have a weekly blogg assingment, and we also can blogg anytime. Other classmates can view and comment their fellow calssmates' bloggs

It normally takes anywhere from 15-60 minutes depending on your computer and how long of a video it is. People can search your video by the name of your movie, the description, the tags, and the catagory it falls under, but if you dont want your movie public you can click the private button.
